Oopies, left this a day late!
Yesterday in class we read and performed monologues and duologues from Romeo and Juliet, I was in a pair and played the part of Juliet accompanied by the nurse, I enjoyed reading and acting the part even if it was only for a minute or so. I enjoy Shakespeare and have a fair understanding of the language which I believe helps when acting. We also read through a hand out on the year of 1600, to help with our soon due assignment it was helpful as I've been having some parts of research difficult. Later in Principles of acting we looked and took notes of Stanislavski's technique. We then performed short pieces using the stimulus of a image provided and stanislavski's technique. Our groups image was of a father holding a dead child in his arms in what looked like a war zone We interrupted the scene by performing it as a news story cover on shootings in Syria, where i played the news reader. I tried to show panic and anger during the short performance by remembering a past traumatic event.I thought the group worked well but were a little unfocused at the start yet the finished product was successful. This did effect me slightly but a quick game at the end of the lesson helped shake off any left over emotion. I am really interested in using this technique and look forward to it again :)
